NSW: Another man charged with John Newman murder

SYDNEY, Aug 11 AAP - Another man has been charged over the 1994 assassination of New South
Wales state MP John Newman.

A 27-year-old man from Cabramatta in Sydney is due to appear in Fairfield Local Court today
charged with murdering Mr Newman outside his Sydney home in September 1994.

Two men are currently facing trial over the murder.

A police spokesman said officers from Taskforce Gap arrested the man at 9.25pm yesterday
after extensive investigations following the shooting of the MP at his Cabramatta home in
Sydney's southwest.

Mr Newman, 47, was the state MP for Cabramatta at the time of his killing - which was
Australia's first political assassination.

Cabramatta men Phuong Canh Ngo, 39, and Tuan Van Tran, 29 are facing trial after pleading
not guilty to murdering Mr Newman.
