Vic: Man charged with murder of solicitor missing for two years
MELBOURNE, Feb 19 AAP - The mysterious disappearance two years ago of a Melbourne solicitormay have been solved, with a man today being charged with his murder.
A 34-year-old man from Delahey, north west of Melbourne, has been charged with themurder of Keith William Allan, who disappeared on May 28, 2000.
The 53-year-old solicitor was last seen by a work associate at his law firm in AvondaleHeights, in Melbourne's inner north west.
Detectives investigating his disappearance found Mr Allan had a deficiency in his trustaccounts, and believed he had either met with foul play or had staged his own disappearance.
The day after he was last seen, police intercepted a person driving his car in Williamstown,west of Melbourne.
A police spokesman today said the man was charged by detectives from the Missing PersonsUnit and appeared in an out-of-court sessions hearing last night.
He was remanded in custody to reappear at the Melbourne Magistrates' Court today.
